Stan saddles up for Central America adventure
Global Energy Group Communications Manager Stan Arnaud is preparing to get on his bike and cycle more than 680km across Central America, on one of the greatest cycling experiences for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The 13-day challenge from 6-18 February 2010 will see Stan cycle 680 hot, humid kilometers from Panama City to Lake Nicaragua, taking in the beautiful Costa Rican coast along the way. The challenge will take him and fellow cyclists in the fundraising group off the tourist trail, through lush rainforests and over rugged coastlines on this epic journey across the varied cultures and terrains of these astonishing countries.
Stan said: “I’m really looking forward to the challenge of cycling through such amazing countries, while also doing my bit for such a worthy cause.
“I lost my mother to cancer last year and my father in 1994. Macmillan provided tremendous support to them and to us as a family during their illnesses and I want to give something back through undertaking this challenge.
“The minimum sponsorship I need to raise to take part in the challenge is £3,500, but I hope to raise a lot more than that.”
Of the £3,500 target, 35% will be taken up in expedition costs. One hundred per cent of any sum raised over the minimum sponsorship will be treated as a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support.
To sponsor Stan, please contact him on 07590 225513 or at stan.arnaud@gegroup.com or go to www.justgiving.com/stanarnaud, where donations can be made quickly and easily online with a credit or debit card.
In the UK more than one in three people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime and more than two million people are currently living with cancer. Macmillan Cancer Support is a UK charity providing the expert care and emotional support which is changing the lives of people living with cancer today. Each year participants on challenges just like this one raise over £1million which makes a huge difference to people living with cancer.
